  Last week,we planned a surprise birthday party for my sister. We wanted to make her very happy. We decorated the house with balloons and colourful ribbons. We also bought a beautiful cake. Everyone was excited and waited quietly for her to come home. When my sister entered the house,we all shouted,"surprise!" She was very shocked 😲 and happy 😊. She smiled and thanked us. We cut the cake and enjoyed delicious food together. We played games and took many photos. It was a joyful day, and my sister said it was the best birthday ever.

  The Kandy Esala perahera is one of the most famous and colorful festivals in Sri Lanka. It is held every year in the historic city of Kandy during the month of Esala ( July or August). This grand procession is organised to honour the sacred Tooth relic of Lord Buddha, which is kept at the Temple of the sacred Tooth Relic. Many people come to see the perahera. There are beautifully decorated elephants,dancers,and drummers. The elephant wear colorful clotes and lights. The dancers perform traditional dances,and the drummers play loud and exciting music. The Perahera is held at night,and it is very beautiful to watch. People gather on the roads to enjoy this grant event. The Kandy Perahera shows the culture and traditions of Sri Lanka. It is a proud festival for the Sri Lankan people.

It is a time of joy,unity, and happiness. Families clean their houses and prepare for the celebrations. There are many traditions followed during this festivals. They cook milk rice and sweet foods like kavum and kokis. Wearing new clothes is also an important custom. Families and neighbours come together to celebrate.
