My favourite Indian dance

My favourite Indian dance is Kathak. It is one of the oldest and most beautiful classical dance forms in India.

Kathak started in North India. The word "kathak" means storytelling. Dancers use their hands, facial expressions and foot movements to tell stories.

Kathak dancers wear colourful costumes and special ankle bells "ghungroo". These bells make rhythmic sounds when they dance. The fast foot work and graceful movements make Kathak very interesting to watch.

The dance is usually performed to classical music. The dancers show emotions like happiness, love and devotion through their performance.

Kathak is a graceful and exciting dance from. It shows the rich culture and traditions of Indian, and that is why it is my favourite dance.
